hello from germany. i’ll add my take: i used to browse many profiles, send lots of “hi nice to meet you” messages, got few responses. then i changed my tone. i started reading her profile more, referencing something she wrote (“saw you like hiking”). that got a reply almost every time. i ended up chatting with a lovely woman from kiev. our chats lasted weeks (sometimes till 2 am), we shared memes, we debated silly topics. what worked: showing i was curious about *her world*, not just about meeting *someone*. after 5 months we met in person. yes moved slowly, yes had mis‑understandings (cultural jokes lost, translation errors), but the connection was strong because of that early respect.
