hey all, i’ve been reading a lot about how there are more unmarried women now than ever before. why is that? is it because of changing social norms, economic factors, or something else? curious to hear your thoughts.

hey there, interesting topic. from what i’ve read, there are a few reasons why more women are choosing to stay single: financial independence, career focus, changing societal norms, personal choice

i agree with what’s been said. adding to that, i think the rise of online dating has also played a role. while it offers more opportunities to meet potential partners, it can also lead to a paradox of choice, where the abundance of options makes it harder to commit.

i’ve been thinking about this too. i believe that societal expectations have evolved. in the past, marriage was often seen as the ultimate goal for women.

Honestly, I think modern women just got tired of waiting for equality to “happen.” My sister’s 34, never married, owns her apartment, and travels alone. She says, “I’m not anti-marriage; I’m anti-settling.” That stuck with me.
The world shifted—women have more access to education, better jobs, and personal freedom. They don’t rely on marriage for security anymore. That’s empowering, but it also means traditional dating expectations broke down.
Still, there’s a sad side to it. My mom sometimes tells my sister she’ll regret it when she’s older. Maybe she’s right, maybe not. But it’s a different kind of generation—one that values peace over partnership at any cost.
